Where Can I Register My Russian Visa?

Register My Russian VisaYour Tourist, Business or Private Russian visa must be registered with the Russian authorities if you are planning to stay in Russia for longer than 3 days.

The visa registration in Russia was introduced in a bid to minimise illegal immigration from some CIS countries but as it is a law now, everybody else must follow it. The registration comes as a stamped slip of paper confirming the completion of the registration process. Actually, you do not have to register your Russian visa yourself, your accommodating party – hotel, friends or relatives – should do it on your behalf. Remember to remind them to do it for you. If you fail to register your Russian visa, you may have to pay a fine, be detained by police and even get deported from Russia with the ban of entering that country for up to 5 years. You should get your visa registered within 3 working days and your tickets which you used to enter that country come as proof of your period of stay there.

If you are staying in a hotel, it must register your visa. They will ask you for your passport with the Russian visa and your migration card which is given at the Russian border. Hotels usually charge a small fee for registering visas and it may take from a few minutes to a whole day for them to do it. Some hotels do not have their own registration service but they can arrange it on your behalf for a fee. Hostels usually register your Russian visa only if it was issued through them and they will want you to stay with them for at least one night, otherwise they may refuse to register your visa for Russia.

If you are going to stay with your friends or family in their flat or if you intend to rent, the person who legally occupies the flat will have to get your visa registered. There is no need for you to be present at this procedure, the person who is going to do it for you will only have to bring to a local post office or police station their passport and copies of your passport with the visa and your migration card. The stamped detachable part of the Arrival Notification form will come as the proof of your visa registration. Before you leave Russia or change accommodation, you must remember to hand back this slip to the person who obtained it for you. Thus, the Russian visa registration must be completed every time you enter that country or move from one flat/hotel to another.

A Transit Russian visa does not require registration. Although if you need to stay in a hotel with a Transit visa, usually you will be able to do that for no longer than 1 night.

Aruba Resort Vacation Tips

Aruba is a special vacation for us. It was our honeymoon and as much preparation as we did, we still felt a little overwhelmed with what we could do there. We like to relax on vacation but we also like to do things that we don’t normally get to do during the year. And the best way to do both is proper planning. Here are my recommendations on what to do on vacation in Aruba.

We traveled to Aruba on a timeshare exchange. Aruba, an island in the Caribbean, is Dutch-owned and the influence from the Dutch is obvious as you travel the island. It’s a small island but it’s such a great place for us. Whether traveling with a family or as a couple, we highly recommend it. Keep in mind, it’s not a wild party place. There are places to have fun but it gets quiet pretty early. It’s very nice and very clean and also very safe. The weather was great but there is a constant breeze that keeps you cool so don’t forget a light jacket. Be sure to wear sunblock as the sun is strong. The sun is hot but the breeze makes it feel nice.

Things you’ll do along with our suggestions: Be sure to take a cruise. Take a sunset cruise around the gorgeous island. We used “Strea Charters” and Esther (the mom) is so nice and so helpful. We had a lot of fun on the beautiful sunset cruise. You’ll get to see the island and the rocky shoreline. Make sure to bring your camera for the amazing sunsets. Esther will give you a great overview of the history of the area. We learned a lot. It was quite fascinating. Then you get to do some great snorkeling too. The water is so warm. The marine life is fantastic. You’ll see some amazing coral and fish. The colors are so vibrant. You’ll be taken back at the colors of the fish. They swim right up to you.

Shopping: Taking the bus downtown only costs a dollar. If you’ve never been there it’s quite a sight to see these very colorful buildings. They are so unique. I have have never seen another downtown like this. You can sense the Dutch influence for sure in the buildings and colors. But you’ll also get a strong Caribbean feel dealing with the locals. The people are really nice and extremely laid back. Tourists talk about the great deals you can get on jewelry. There is quite a bit of locally made items that will catch your eye. Since we stayed in a timeshare resort, we were able to stock up on groceries. We did some grocery shopping as well. Keep in mind that you will not be getting a selection like you do at Wal-Mart.

The Natural Pool: This is a must-see. For this site, we rented some ATVs. The “Natural Pool” is hard to get to. Get a clear map from your hotel or the rental place. We rented ATVs for the journey and that was soooo much fun. Riding across the island with the dirt kicking up all over the place was something unique for us. You’ll look forward to a shower afterward. Bring some snorkel gear. This is a great place to see great sea life in clear waters. The waves come right over the rocks and into the pool.

Food: You can get almost any type of food. We enjoy casual eating most of the time. We just want to wear shorts and tank tops and enjoy the food with some cold beer and/or margaritas. So “Wacky Wahoos” is a great meal. We had the fish and it was sooo fresh and tasty. It’s small so I recommend making reservations with your concierge or you probably won’t get in. We also ate at the “Aruba Surf Club” from Marriott. It was also very good. The atmosphere is just amazing. It always is at a Marriott timeshare resort. It was more expensive than most but very good. We loved having a fresh fish dinner right there on the beach with the waves coming in.

And we always felt safe on the island. The locals are very nice. We’ve never heard of any issues with crime. Enjoy!
